Mountain Laurels 2011

I have a huge Mountain Laurel bush growing in the woods on the far side of my garage...(Why couldn’t it be growing where I could see it from my windows?); it’s about 20 feet high and 50 feet around. It just keeps spreading.

I guess it drops its seeds and they germinate and create new plants, but to me it seems like the new bushes result from it sending out runners that root further out from the main bush and then grow up into new bushes. It blooms around the 3rd or 4th week of May each year, and it a real treat to behold.

For all of you who don’t live where the Mountain Laurels bloom, you should at least see these few photos of them.
