Scenes of my snowy surroundings on January 13, 2011

The best thing to do after a nice snowfall is to take note of the beauty surrounding you, and try to
capture a little of it with a camera before it starts to melt away. So take a walk with me as I make a
circle around the property.

I walk out the door on to my front porch and see the meadow without a footprint – human or otherwise.

I walk to the start of my driveway in one of the tire tracks, so as to not track up the pristine snow any more than it is already, and turn for a look back at the house.

Right at the juncture where my drive splits from the main driveway out to the road, is a small rock garden, with all but the largest stones buried beneath the snow.

The trick is to capture as much possible contrast between the snow, the rocks and the shadows, and still retain the visible texture of all three.

I begin walking up the driveway toward the road, and come abreast of the snow-covered pond, and our scenic 100-foot tall Tulip Poplar tree.
