The Carolina Chickadee (Poecile carolinensis) is, without a doubt, one of my favorite birds. I

would be sorry if they weren’t here year round. The Chickadee is a tiny bird with the heart

of a lion. When other birds are being intimidated and chased off by larger or more aggressive

birds at the feeder, the Chickadees go about their business of getting their meals. It’s

almost as though they decided not to pay any attention: “Oh, I beg your pardon, were you

being big, and mean, and scary? I’m sorry. I didn’t notice...I was busy getting my seeds.”
